Code Modification

Code Modification

Code modification is designed for existing websites and web applications that need specific technical changes without a complete redesign or rebuild. We first review the relevant code, technology stack and possible impact on existing functionality, then define a practical implementation path that minimizes unnecessary disruption.

When is code modification the right choice?

An existing website does not always need to be rebuilt. Often the requirement is specific: add a feature, fix a defect, connect an external system, improve administration or clean up a problematic part of the codebase. In those cases, focused modification can be more practical than replacing the entire application.

Feature development

We work within the constraints of the existing architecture and add required functionality while protecting current behavior as much as possible. Typical work can include forms, reporting, user-facing features, administration changes and other business logic.

Bug fixing and diagnosis

The first objective is to identify the actual cause of a problem. Rather than only masking symptoms, we review relevant code, database behavior, logs, server-side errors and browser behavior where project access allows.

Refactoring and technical debt

When a section of code is difficult to maintain, contains unnecessary duplication or blocks further development, focused refactoring can improve its structure. The scope is defined before changes begin so a local improvement does not turn into an uncontrolled rewrite.

APIs and third-party integrations

Existing websites often need connections to payment, CRM, ERP, delivery, analytics or other external services. Integration work considers authentication, data validation, error handling and compatibility with current business processes.

How do we start?

We need a description of the problem or requested feature, basic information about the technology stack and the relevant access required for analysis. We first determine whether the change can be implemented safely within the current architecture. If the codebase makes targeted changes impractical, we explain that before proceeding.

When is a rebuild more appropriate?

If the technical foundation is obsolete, problems are systemic or new requirements fundamentally change the website purpose, repeated patches may not be efficient. In those situations, a redesign or new web development project can be the more sustainable option.
